Dear Mogens,

Would you be so kind as to give your opinion about this passage (100 penge Danisch / Wendisch)?

Kind regards,

Fons Smeur

I think it states about this:
Thomes Brun v Ki¢bnehaffn aff h¢ll
haffde schiffuit wdj Ett the schibe
Simen v Saling haffde frachtet
till Naruen som losede wdj ki¢pnehaffn.

Translation probably:

Thomes Brun from Kopenhagen left from Hull
sailed the ship of Simen v Saling had his freight
at Narva, which he unloaded in Kopenhagen.

Dear Fonss Smeur

It is a bit difficult this one - partly because the clerk made an error and wrote "v. Kiøbnehaffn" instead of "kiøbmand" (merchant). You can see that from scan 520 "lastpenge Narven" where you meet the same Thomes Brundt named as kiøbmand. You'll also find him on scan 351 "fyrpenge".
Narven was not a place you normally were allowed to sail, but Simen v. Saling obviously had been allowed to go there with some ships and Thomes Brun had goods on board one of them. It is difficult to see whether he onloaded his wax in Copenhagen or took it to Hull.
But at any rate, I think the passage should be understood as follows:
Thomes Brun, merchant from Hull had transported [his goods and himself] in one of the ships Simen v. Saling had freighted to Narven which unloaded in Copenhagen.

Dear Mogens,

Thank you for your thorough and clear answer.
It brightens for me the way in which and under what circumstances the shipping took place.

Kind regards
