STRO, now complete from 1634 up to 1857
This summer the input was finished for the period 1634 up to 1857. Now this whole period has been made available in STRO. More than 300 years of passages, commodity ‘s and toll can be found in the database. With nearly 1.5 million passages and more than 4 million registrations of cargo STRO gives a very extensive opportunity for research.
The database is a ‘work in progress’. That means that improving the data in STRO will be an ongoing process. From about 1680 to 1857 the data has been checked to a certain extend. The data from 1634 to about 1680 has not been checked after the input. So therefore the data of this period may have some imperfections.
The input of the earliest period of STRO, from 1497 up to 1634 we would like to realize with the help of volunteers. We are now looking for enthusiastic and motivated volunteers anywhere in the world, possibly with some knowledge of palaeography and some affinity with history.
